For my History of the Symphony music class, we had a short project designed to get us students thinking about the sensuous surface of music (Susan Sontag’s phrase), and not just the structure and analytical aspects of music that has been the class’s preoccupation. So I listened to Debussy’s Prélude à l’après-midi d’un faune, and the above picture is what came out.
I’m curious to see what the other students did for their interpretations. I don’t see much relationship between the song and the above picture. But I do think it ended up looking kind of pretty.
